Traveling from the ancient 9th century capital of Siem Reap to the modern capital of Phnom Penh one can really experience the contrasts that define Cambodia.

Siem Reap is the gateway to the Temples of Angkor, magnificent ruins built between the 9th to 14th centuries. More than 100 temples are located in the area and several days can be spent wandering amongst the monuments.

Siem Reap is also home to the Tonle Sap Lake, a natural wonder full of floating villages and mangrove forests. Nearby Ream National Park and the colonial-feel Kampot make great day trips in the area.
